Description

Brandi is a 1.25m tall Bimm, of the near-human species from the planet Bimmisaari. She weighs a mere 15kg (about 33#), has short black hair, startingly blue eyes, and a unrelentingly cheerful personality.

Brandi's strengths are in her interpersonal skills, not her combat skills. She is adequate with a lightsaber and blaster, but prefers to avoid fighting whenever possible. A master storyteller, she knows how to play her audience, being by turns cajoling and stern, until she gets what she wants. Fortunately, what she wants is usually for the general good; despite her family background, she is not spoiled or selfish.

Her fellow padawans and her teachers recognized early that she was a good listener, a comforting shoulder on which to cry, and a wise giver of advice, and her companions tend to discover that within a short time of meeting her as well.

She dresses conservatively, usually in trousers, a shirt, and a vest under her padawan robes.

Her main fault is that her focus on people often makes her a little too sympathetic, and she rarely draws her lightsaber, not wishing to kill.

Family

Brandi Bjarlen was born the fourth daughter and fifth child of Torbjan and Melise Bjarlen, wealthy landowners on Bimmisaari. Her sunny disposition charmed everyone that saw her, and her parents thought to apprentice her to one of the master storytellers - until the Jedi came and tested her, and took her to Coruscant when she was still a toddler.

At first she was unhappy at being away from her family, and particularly her older brother, who she adored. But soon her natural optimism reasserted itself, and she became once more the sunny, charming child she was at home. She studied weaponswork, as all padawans do, but her real love was to sit and drink in the tales the older Jedi told of new places and new people. Gradually, she spent more and more time learning etiquette, diplomacy, languages, and the "gentler" Force skills, avoiding the combative skills and as much weapons practice as possible, and spending her spare time assisting the Jedi representatives to the Senate.

It was there she first learned of Cularin and the Academy there, as the system had been missing for most of her life. She grew fascinated with the tales of heroism and adventure that seemed to flourish there, concentrated, it seemed, around one small planet. She heard of the jungles, and yearned for the forests of her homeland - a yearning she thought she'd abandoned long years before. So, when her mentors at the Jedi Temple suggested that her talents might be well-utilized at the Jedi Academy on Almas, and in the Cularin System, she was eager to go.
