PHOENIX CLAN

You all have been sent as representatives from the Phoenix Clan to Eiyu Province for their Harvest Festival. While this is a provincial court, the invitation still needed to be answered, and you were selected. The Phoenix expect you to act as guests, and have also gotten rumors of a few important opportunities for your Clan. Due to the recent events in the Empire, there will be no senior members of the Clan present. They would like you to pursue these opportunities, work to promote the Phoenix Clan, and bring Glory to your Family.

The Daimyo of Eiyu Provice owes this amazing harvest to a large, but portable, Shrine of Inari. This shrine has traveled between Lion provinces each year for some time, but he is said to be looking outside the Lion for the next place to send the Shrine. Obviously it would be best if this shrine was sent to our lands! It must go to a specific province, and be nominated by someone from that province. It will also require four additional samurai agreeing to the province for it to be considered by the Lion. You should remind the samurai of other clans how important we are to the Empire, and encourage them to assist you in getting the provinces considered by the Lion.

Otomo Hanabira has unexpectedly decided to answer the Lion’s invitation to this festival in person. He is very well connected at court, and is one of many helping to arrange the full state funeral of the Empress. It has been passed on from reliable sources that he will be seeking three samurai to assist in the Funeral, a bushi, a shugenja, and a courtier. It would only be proper if at least one of these roles went to our Clan! You should select a single samurai to represent the Clan’s interests to the Imperials in the negotiations; this choice should be made before you separate. It would be wise to pick someone who would be trusted to work with the rest of the Clan regularly throughout the process.

The Phoenix Clan understands that you will not likely be able to accomplish all the goals set out for you. You are encouraged to work with the other clans as needed to accomplish what you can, and are allowed to be flexible in your negotiations if needed. You are not, however, authorized to negotiate anything in the way of Clan Policy or treaties.
