Player's Handout 1: Danteven Prime

Danteven Prime is dominated by low vegetation and burrowing animals and is a mineral-poor world of low hills and shallow seas. It is not a tectonically active world, resulting in a definite lack of mountains or other formations to break up the winds. A Danteven storm can be a truly spectacular thing to behold, but something one would not want to be caught in.

There are two continents with civilizations on them, detailed by the maps provided in this report. The western continent is the home of Net-Nine Technologies headquarters. This is the administrative base for the mega-corporation and The Net-Nine Technology aristocorps makes their home here. Under much pressure from the enclave of Druids on the eastern continent and the Green Cabal, a band of eco-terrorists, Net-Nine Technologies has only built a few cities on Danteven Prime.

The Net-Nine Technologies cities include the main headquarters and spaceport, Net-Nine Offshore, Net-Nine Materials, Net-Nine Infotech, and Net-Nine Biotechnical. The main headquarters and spaceport is the northernmost city and is the home of the Danteven Academy. The other cities are connected to the main one and each other by artificially strengthened, ceramic highways suspended on giant turbofans. This is a unique hovering technology developed by Net-Nine Technologies, and has the benefit of providing easy access across the continent, without disrupting the natural flora and fauna… much.

An enclave of druids makes its home on the eastern continent, where they do their best to preserve the natural habitat of Danteven Prime. They also serve as a reminder to Net-Nine Technologies, to not let their high-tech ambitions destroy yet another world. This druid enclave only peripherally supports the Green Cabal, as they believe that peaceful negotiation is the best way to handle things. Besides, they believe that Net-Nine Technologies is making every possible effort to preserve the natural order of things.

Ruins dot the landscape of Danteven Prime. Most believe these are ancient structures and cities built by a Precursor race. Nobody is quite sure what the precursors were, what they looked like, or how they may have fathered all sentient life in the universe. A few believe that these ruins are not Precursor, but Psion in origin. They are a minority amongst scholars, and most scoff at the idea.

Danteven Prime is also a prime vacation planet for the rich and famous. There are many pristine beaches and luxurious resorts that are scattered throughout the native wilderness. These resorts are only moderately tolerated by the druids, and not at all by the Green Cabal. As such, these resorts sometimes resemble military compounds, where elite soldiers guard the lives of the empire’s wealthy.

Enjoy your stay on Danteven Prime, and remember to plant a tree today!
