LION CLAN ORDERS
You all have been sent as representatives from the Lion Clan to Eiyu Province for their Harvest Festival. While this is a provincial court, samurai from all over the Empire were invited, and you were selected to represent the Lion Clan. The Lion expect you to act as good hosts, and have also gotten rumors of a few important opportunities for your Clan. Due to the recent events in the Empire, there will be few senior members of the Clan present. The Lion would like you to pursue these opportunities, work to promote the Lion Clan, and bring Honor and Glory to your Ancestors.
The Daimyo of Eiyu Provice owes this amazing harvest to a large, but portable, Shrine of Inari. This shrine has traveled between Lion provinces each year for some time, but he is said to be looking outside the Lion for the next place to send the Shrine. The province will require a nomination, and four additional samurai to support the province for it to be considered by the Daimyo. While our provinces are ineligible, you may lend your support if you find someone you feel is truly worthy. This will be a busy time, and you should endeavor to support the Daimyo as they go about their task.
Otomo Hanabira has unexpectedly decided to answer the Lion’s invitation to this festival in person. He is very well connected at court, and is one of many helping to arrange the full state funeral of the Empress. It has been passed on from reliable sources that he will be seeking three samurai to assist in the Funeral, a bushi, a shugenja, and a courtier. It would only be proper if at least one of these roles went to our Clan!
You should select a single samurai to represent the Clan’s interests to the Imperials in the negotiations; this choice should be made before you separate.
It would be wise to pick someone who would be trusted to work with the rest of the Clan regularly throughout the process.
Remember that these samurai are here as our guests, and your actions reflect on the Lion Clan. Your ancestors are watching, and your actions will bring either Glory or Shame to our names.
The Lion Clan understands that you will not likely be able to accomplish all the goals set out for you. You are encouraged to work with the other clans as needed to accomplish what you can, and are allowed to be flexible in your negotiations if needed. You are not, however, authorized to negotiate anything in the way of Clan Policy or treaties.
