Five bells ring into your ear, then you feel a weighty object materialize in your pocket/pouch. Once in private, you retrieve the object, which turns out to be a palm-sized metal shield. Pricking your finger, you carefully place a drop of blood onto the shield’s surface and speak your personal code word. Briefly the shield’s surface flares with an eerie blue glow, and then it begins speaking a message directly into your mind.
“Greetings. We have detected a high level of Harvester activity in the immediate area. We believe the disappearances at the Blessed Embrace Orphanage may be related. If you can confirm Harvester activity, you must save the children at all costs. Additionally, any information you can discover about Harvester methods, agents, or locations should be reported immediately. If you need assistance during your mission, you may find the Sanctorum through the basement of the Imperial Apothecary. You may also have access to our safe house directly across from the Temple of Melancholy Delights.”
As soon as its message is delivered, the shield rusts away into nothingness.
