The following letter was delivered to you the day before you started your journey to Enpebyn.
“Greetings. I understand you will soon be embarking on a journey to my fair city. As you may or may not know, the situation in Enpebyn is dire. The forces of the Emperor have been driving refugees into the city for protection, and they have put a severe stain on our resources. Soon, we will be forced to make our stand here. I hope you will stand with us. While you are in Enpebyn, anything you can do to bolster our defenses or to help the morale or supply situation of the refugees would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, the Emperor’s agents are everywhere. Keep a wary eye on your fellow travelers. Any one of them may be an enemy agent trying to infiltrate the city to gather intelligence or sabotage our defenses. If you notice any such suspicious behavior from any of your companions, do nothing directly. Simply inform the local Magistrate so the suspect may be followed and dealt with as necessary. Yours in service to the Empire, Morushun val’Ishi, Arch-Prelate of Beltine.”
