This handout provides a summary of the Battle of Enpebyn, which was the first battle of the Coryani Civil War.
What is significant for this adventure is that at the very end of the battle, Loyalist General Dorjan val’Mehan detonated a huge amount of blastpowder that had been secreted beneath the city walls. The resulting explosion opened up huge rifts, collapsing whole sections of the city into the Lavender Way. Boiling up from beneath the earth came a massive number of the insect-like creatures known as il’Huan, one of the races that had been thought to be destroyed by the Elorii during their time as slaves of the Ssethregoran Empire. Il’Huan are extremely dangerous, being both psionically active and connected to one another via some sort of collective consciousness or hive mind. The il’Huan horde would surely have devastated both sides in the battle – they were attacking Loyalists and Rebels equally, not seeming to care about either faction – if not for the arrival of a 10-foot-tall Elorii female clad in pure white armor that glimmered with multicolored runes. The Elorii enacted a powerful ritual of some sort, which blanketed the entire battlefield in a silvery mist. She then dove off the walls of Enpebyn directly into the Lavender Way, laughing the whole time, apparently intending to take the fight to the il’Huan by herself. The silvery radiance seemed to preserve the lives of those who fell to the attacks of the il’Huan; though the battle was still very close, in the end, the insectoid monsters were defeated and all those who had fallen were saved. The mysterious Elorii has not been sighted since then, although the Laerestri have all been given standing orders to look for her and report anything they find back to their contacts in the Vastwood.
