Appendix: The Amulet of the Sun

The Amulet of the Sun is a powerful magical artifact.

The Amulet of the Sun appears to be a gold medallion approximately 5 inches in diameter, with the image of Queen Nefertiti upon it. She stands in profile, offering a gift of reeds to a shining sun, which represents the Egyptian God Aten. The medallion is more than 24 karat gold, and has a very rich, yellow color as a result.

The Amulet of the Sun has been enchanted with powerful spells to prevent its destruction. Anyone attempting to take an action to directly harm the amulet will feel a sharp pain in their skull. They must make a Will save (DC 20). Failure means that they take 1d6 points of temporary Wisdom damage, and fall to the ground, stunned by the power of the Amulet. Those who succeed in the Will save still fall to the ground, but avoid the ability damage. Either way, they are prevented from harming the Amulet directly.

The Amulet can also invoke several other powers to prevent its destruction: dimension door, forget, protection from elements, obscure object. It can invoke any of these powers once a round, on any round that it is threatened. These spells function has if cast by a 15th level Adept, and never have a chance of failure. Finally, the Amulet has damage reduction of 20/+5. The Amulet itself has a hardness of 5 and 15
hit points.
