Appendix: The Army of Set the Undying
The Army of Set the Undying is a qabal of people devoted to a cause. In
some ways, it resembles the
Society of the White Rose. Its members function in cells, with limited
access to the higher echelons.
Each cell has limited if any information about other cells. If one
cell is discovered, it rarely gives away
information about the rest of the network, because it simply does not
know that information.
The Army of Set is filled with members who worship Set with complete
devotion. Those who are
inducted to the Army are put through rigorous tests, questions, and
mental scans to ensure that they are
truly “enlightened.”
The purpose that the Army of Set serves in this campaign setting is
to serve as a dark mirror to the
White Rose. Each qabal is made up of members who genuinely believe
in a cause. Each qabal is made
up of members who would gladly sacrifice their lives for that cause.
As the Army of Set is a religious group, they have some basically beliefs
to which they subscribe to.
Here are their following beliefs:
The Essential Myth:
1) Do not fear Death: Death is part of Nature’s Cycle. No one can
determine when it will come, only
that it will eventually come for everyone. Thus it is not only useless
to fight against death, it is
blasphemous to stop it. If someone is about to die, let them. It is
what Fate has decreed for
them. Those that sacrifice their lives for others are only wasting
their lives, for the person they
saved will only die as well. There is no guilt in murder, you are only
acting as the Hand of Fate.
2) Value freedom above all: Freedom is the most important thing
in the world. Do not oppose
another’s freedom. If a person wishes to kill, let them. It is their
right to be free and experience
their freedom. If a person tortures another, they only torture a shell,
for the body is transitory.
Allow people to do what they want, when they want, without restriction.
3) Defend freedom above all: There are those who would try to
destroy freedom. These individuals
desire to control you and me. They label things “good” and “evil” in
order to control others. Since
they oppose freedom of the general people, they must be destroyed,
for there is no greater sin
than standing in the way of freedom.
4) Be loyal only unto Set and unto yourself: People come and
go. Your soul is eternal. Be true
to your soul first, before you trust others. Other people may try to
control you or oppose your
freedom. Your soul shall never oppose your freedom. Be true to Set
the Undying. In the end,
when Thoth weighs the great scale, you shall be judged. Those who were
unworthy shall be fed
to the Great Crocodile himself. Those who are worthy shall stand beside
Set as his equal.
